ATHLETIC PHYSICALS: It is time to start thinking about physicals and your child's DragonFly for next season. Students who plan on participating in grades 7th - 12th athletics for the 2024-2025 school year will need an updated physical before he/she can participate. Physicals are good for one year from the date you receive it. For example, if your child's physical was in August 2023, his/her physical is good until August 2024. You can get a physical for your child a couple ways: 1. Receive a physical from your child's pediatrician. If you choose to go this route, please print both the following forms, parents fill out the Health History Form and take the Physical Form to . These are the physical papers the AAA would like for us to use. 2. The Mountainburg Family Clinic has agreed to do a physical for $25. This is very cheap compared to most. It may even be more economical than some co-pays to pay the $25. The clinic should have the form, so you will not need the above form for the clinic. New athletes or incoming 7th grade athletes, you will need to create a DragonFly account and complete the required items. Please see the Parent Module video for help with creating and completing a DragonFly account: https://www.dragonflymax.com/parents-module-2-submit... Existing 8th - 12th athletes, you will need a physical and an update to your DragonFly account. Everyone has to sign off on the Sports Medicine and AAA Participation Agreement every year. If you are interested in learning more about the health and safety for athletes, please view the following documents: Concussion Sports Medicine Fact Sheet Heat Illness: https://kendrickfincher.org/heat-illness-learn-more/ Link to Folder with Information for Physicals: https://drive.google.com/.../11YEc64wzo9tdKAH8Msdypo41D0q... We are looking forward to the 2024-2025 athletic seasons. Go Dragons!

It is always awesome to hear about the accomplishments of MHS graduates. Below is a release from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville about Sydney Taylor, MHS Class of 2021. Along with this achievement, Sydney has chosen to pursue her Master's degree. Congratulations Sydney! We are blessed to have wonderful role models for our students to look up to and see that hard work pays off.

Reminder
MES STEM CAMP RECAP from Coach Hoelscher: During the STEM Camp, we used 2-liter bottles to build water rockets. Each group was given multiple days to construct their rocket using cardboard, plastic, tape, and other materials. Teams attempted to build cones and fins for their bottles to cut through the air (for less resistance) in an effort to go higher than other groups! Each team was granted a practice run before the official rocket launch! During the official rocket launches, teams were given liberties on how much water/air would be filled/placed within their bottle rockets. At the end of the launch day, K-2 were able to achieve an altitude of 62 feet, while grades 3-5 hit the 100 foot mark! Overall, each student had a blast learning about Issac Newton and his laws of motion; they enjoyed learning about gravity and its effects on objects; and they lastly learned about aerodynamics, specifically when applied to rockets!
