Teacher Appreciation Week 2021 is coming to a wrap. Thank you to all the individuals, groups, and organizations for sending treats and warm thoughts to our faculty and staff. If 2020 taught us lessons, we should realize just how amazing our teachers, plus our entire teams of school employees, in fact, really are. From trying to teach and stay connected with our students with no one on campus in the spring, then serving as the first public agencies in the state, or the country for that matter, to re-open and return to full level services , our teachers, aides, drivers, cooks, secretaries, custodians, coaches, and administrators have proven their dedication and bravery. They overcame fear of personal safety, and took on on site learning PLUS digital learning. Although they smiled behind the mask, I saw the fatigue and stress on their faces. Not from the investments they had to make to step up to the “new normal” but rather from the concerns they had from not being able to fully reach and serve their students effectively. Public school teachers are the heart beat of our community. Even now, tired and worn out, our teachers are planning and training for a tough but exciting future year. Thank our school teams when you see them. Let them know you appreciate them and the work they do for our community. Together we are Dragon💙Strong. Dr Atwell, Superintendent

On May 18 voters will determine future facilities and renovations for the district. Why are they needed? Mountainburg Public School’s facilities are aging and the District must plan for improvements for future generations. In order to compete, we must provide state-of-the-art facilities, technologies, and innovative programs for our students. Construction dates of our buildings: Old Main 1935 Cafeteria 1967 Carl Rogers Gymnasium 1975 Music Room 1981 Science Building 1986 Agri Lab 1989 Through a comprehensive process of facilities committee work, tours, inspections, and consultations with architects and construction groups, the following program and renovation needs have been identified: Band Room Stage/Performance Venue for Large Audiences Gym - expanded seating, AC, and fitness stations Aging facilities - need upgrades, repairs & renovation Old Main - subflooring Cafeteria - wall/roof structures, insulation, refrigeration, storage, & servery Gym - AC, Seating, flooring, sewage, & moisture Science labs - fume hood/sinks/water/gas Agri lab - welding/ventilation Security/lighting/drainage If you have any questions about the proposed projects or the district's needs, please call our offices or come for a tour.
