In the quiet hills of Mountainburg, where the school is more than just a building—it’s a hub of the community—you'll find a special kind of teacher. These aren’t just educators. They are mentors and motivators who invest themselves in every student who walks through their doors. At Mountainburg Schools, teachers wear many hats. One moment they are leading a science experiment with eager third graders; the next, they are comforting a nervous high school senior on making decisions for their future. Their classrooms are filled not just with books and computers, but with encouragement, creativity, and a belief that every student matters. What truly sets them apart is their unwavering commitment. Many of our teachers grew up in Mountainburg or were "transplanted" here through marriage or being hired here. They know their students by name, their stories, and their dreams. They attend ball games, music concerts, and community events—not because they have to, but because they care. The teachers at Mountainburg Schools are here serving as guiding hands and steady voices that help young people discover who they are and what they can become. They don’t just teach lessons; they shape futures.

Mountainburg Public Schools is initiating a strategic plan to address facility needs. To support our students and provide a high-quality learning environment, we are requesting a 3.9-mill increase, which would bring our millage rate to 47.9 mills. This funding would allow us to build a new middle school/ high school cafeteria providing a modern, warm, safe and dry kitchen and student dining space. Voters will decide on this investment in May 2025, ensuring we can meet both current and future student needs. The next public meeting will be on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:00 Please join us in the MMS/MHS Cafeteria for a Q&A, review and provide input in the preliminary designs, tour the existing cafeteria, and the new Dragon Gym & Activity Center. You can learn more about the project here: https://secure.smore.com/n/12mg9

Today, we take a special moment to recognize and celebrate the heart of our schools—the dedicated principals of Mountainburg Schools. In every classroom, every hallway, every event and every challenge, the leadership of our principals is felt. They are more than administrators—they are mentors, encouragers, problem-solvers, and advocates. Their commitment to our students, staff, and families is unmatched. At Mountainburg, we are proud to have principals who lead with integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Whether it’s supporting a student in need, lifting up a teacher, or building a vision for our schools’ future, our principals step up day after day—with purpose and with heart. Their work often goes unseen, but its impact is undeniable. The culture of kindness, the pursuit of excellence, the sense of unity across our campuses—it all reflects the steady hands and caring hearts of our school leaders. So today, on Principals Day, we say thank you. Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for believing in every student who walks through our doors. Mountainburg is stronger, smarter, and more united because of you. Happy Principals Day to the incredible leaders of Mountainburg Schools—we appreciate you more than words can say. Be sure to let Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Cristee know how much you appreciate them!
