This week is National School Bus Safety Week. At Mountainburg Schools, we are blessed with a great transportation department! Jerry, Tim, Melissa, and Crew are top notch! Student safety is paramount.
MPS has a fleet of 9 buses that travel close to a total of 500 miles each day, round trip. This doesn't include all the extra trips that drivers will do during the school day or after hours.
So take a moment and THANK A DRIVER! They haul very precious cargo.

There has been a great response to the event Family Mental Health night across the state. The event will be recorded and a link will be supplied to everyone who registered. The ADE is also working on getting Spanish subtitles included in the recording, so it may take a bit longer to send.
Mrs. Dean will have a room open at the elementary for anyone who wishes to attend.
The event will begin at 6:00 PM.

Sadly, substance use and abuse are on the rise among our young people. Here are some signs your student may be using:
• Losing interest in activities they once
enjoyed
• Dropping old friends for a new group
• Acting despondent, aggressive or angry
• Sleeping more than usual
• Breaking rules
• Exhibiting physical changes like sudden
weight loss, frequent nosebleeds, bloody
or watery eyes, or shakes and tremors
• Frequently asking for money
• Stealing
And while mood swings in teens and adolescents is normal, those accompanied by the above could be warning signs of a more dangerous situation. Keep the lines of communication open with your children, Dragons, and reach out when help is needed.
