Opioid abuse can affect anyone, including teens. Recent surveys found that nearly 700,000 adolescents misused opioid pain relievers in 2018. With the effects of opioid abuse devastating our communities, it is important to take the proper steps to protect your teen. * Talk with your student about the dangers of opioid misuse. * Monitor your medications and keep them in a safe storage area. * Dispose of any leftover medications. * Set a good example: Teens tend to copy the behavior of their parents, and are more likely to abuse opioids if their parents do as well. Celebrate life this Red Ribbon Week, Dragons, and live drug free!
